Back-to-School

When Does School Start?

  • Tuesday, September 3, 2024 is the first day of school for Grades 1-12.
  • Kindergarten will start either Wednesday, September 4, 2024 or Thursday, September 5, 2024. Schools will inform parents of their child's start date.

Registration

All parents/guardians of new and current students who have not pre-registered are encouraged to do so before the first day of school. 

  1. Re-enrollment forms for current students are now available through the Powerschool Parent Portal. View our registration page for more information.
  2. Options for completing registration for new students include:
    1. In person at the school during the specified school registration days and times listed here
    2. Contact the schoolClick here to access school websites and contact information. All school front offices will reopen by August 26, 2024. 
    3. From July 2 to August 23, parents who wish to register a new student may contact the St. Paul Education Division Office at 780-645-3323.

Required Documentation

Unless already provided, the following information will be required upon registration.

Student identification such as:

  • Birth certificate (mandatory as per Alberta Education)
  • Alberta Health Care card and/or treaty card
  • Citizenship/Immigration papers (if applicable)

Student mailing and physical address:

  • Municipal address and/or legal land description for all rural residents.
  • Street address for students living in towns and villages.

Note: Parents and guardians who wish to have their child attend a new school different than the one they attended last year, will need to attend in-person registration days at the new school.

Kindergarten Registration Information

Across Alberta, children must turn five years old on or before December 31, 2023 to be registered in Kindergarten. Students born between January 1 and December 31, 2018, are eligible to register for Kindergarten for the 2023-24 school year. Visit our Kindergarten page for more information.

Payment Information for Registration Fees

Once registrations are approved and fees are assigned, payments can be made using School Cash Online or in person at the school.

Payment plans can be set up through School Cash Online only.

Those unable to pay fees due to financial hardship may apply for a fee waiver. Please contact your school office for additional information. 

Transportation

  • All students who ride a St. Paul Education bus must apply for busing yearly. This includes students who ride a rural bus.
  • There will be a base fee for all rural and Town of St. Paul riders for the 2024-2025 school year.

  • Download the Bus Status 4 App in order to receive information about delays and cancellations. Instructions for downloading the Bus Status 4 App are available on our website.

Payment Information for Transportation Fees

Transportation fees can be paid in full using School Cash Online, E-transfer (Recipient is etransfer@sperd.ca and the message must contain, school, students name and the service you are paying for, eg. busing) or at Division Office.

New Attendance Reporting System

Starting in the new school year, we will be introducing SafeArrival, our new attendance reporting system. This tool will make it easier for you to report and respond to your child’s school absences. For more information click here.

Personal Devices and Access to Social Media in Schools

As we prepare for the new school year, please note that the Alberta government has introduced restrictions on the use of personal mobile devices and social media in schools. Our school division will be working on procedures and policies to align with the new Ministerial Order in the coming months.
