Affordability Grants

What is the Affordability Grant?

The Affordability Grant is an agreement with the federal government that will support the expansion of accessible, affordable and high-quality child care that gives families the choice they need.

Do families need to apply for the Affordability Grant?

Affordability grants are provided directly to child care operators so they can lower parent fees for all families in their program. Funding is provided for each child based on age range and type of care. Preschool programs have a set rate of $100 per month per child. Parents do not need to apply to benefit from this fee reduction. All families are eligible.

What do families need to pay for Preschool fees?

Preschool fees will vary from site to site because of hours of operation and enrolment numbers. For example, if the monthly fee is $100 per month, the Affordability Grant would be subtracted ($100) and parents would be responsible for the $40 per month fee.
